ISO 9001 - All you need to know....

 

Basics

 

  • ISO 9001 is the world-wide standard for quality management systems
  • It is a blue-print for good business practice that can be applied to any type of organisation.
  • It was previously known as BS 5750 and ISO 9002.
  • The current revision is BS EN ISO 9001 : 2008. 
     

  • In the UK, UKAS,  the DTIs watchdog, regulates the assessment process and only those assssing bodies that meet defined standards are allowed to award ISO 9001 certificates that contain the Queen's crown. These include; BSI, NQA, ISOQAR, Lloyds Register etc.

  • To demonstrate to customers and potential customers that you operate a well run business

How do you get it?

 

  • Get a consultancy like us to help you prepare for your assessment

  • Do it yourself, you may have the experience and time to do it yourself

  • Cheat and use a non-UKAS approved assessing body that prepares you for your assessment and then awards the certificate themselves! It is like your driving instructor telling you you've passed your driving test and giving you a license after taking one lesson! Anyone that knows anything about quality, which might well include your customers or your potential customers, will tut and shake their heads!

  • In addition, you will have your assessment fees which are likely to be from ~ £700
